Goals and Objectives of Pak-Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences & Technology (PAF-IAST)

Specific Goal
The concept underlying PAF-IAST program is to contribute to the development of a well-balanced industrial economy in Pakistan. Its holistic vision is to contribute in expansion and enhancement of the quality of higher education in engineering, science and technology, and simultaneously to stimulate high-technology industry in Pakistan.
Objectives (Short term and Long term)
The Pak-Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences & Technology (PAF-IAST) Project objectives are summarized as follows:

  1. Establish technology based university in partnership with Austrian universities. In phase one, a temporary campus will be established at the University of Haripur’s main campus which will offer graduate and postgraduate degree programs in selected programs starting Fall semester 2017.
  2. Establish purpose-built campuses of PAF-IAST after acquiring land not less than 600 Kanals on a chosen site. The campus shall be fully residential for faculty, graduate and undergraduate students.
  3. Establish Technology Park
  4. Offer under graduate (4 years)  and graduate (2 years) degree programs

Long Term Objectives

  1. PAF-IAST will offer dual degrees of the Austrian partner technical institutes/universities to its graduates. In the fully operational phase the Pak-Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences & Technology (PAF-IAST) will have:

a. 1000 students at the Bachelors/Masters Level; (the number of students will be increased when the programme is fully functional) 
b. Faculty to Student ratio of 1:16.

  1. A Technology Park will be integrated into the Pak-Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences & Technology (PAF-IAST) and this will include:

a. Business Incubation Center;
b. Shell units for small and medium-size companies;
